ICIE Workshops at AuroSchools in Bengaluru

Shivakumar and C. N. Shanker of ICIE visited the two AuroSchools in Bengaluru from May 29 to June 2, 2017, with the objective of understanding and contributing to the education imparted at these schools.

Auro Mirra International School (AMIS): A three-day workshop was conducted for pre-primary teachers of Auro Mirra International School, Bengaluru, from May 29 to 31, by C. N. Shanker, ICIE Research Associate. He introduced several Integral Education concepts to the 10 teachers attending through indoor/outdoor games, group discussions and craftwork, among others. Shivakumar, Director, ICIE, extensively interacted with all the teachers and also suggested several practices that will help enhance the educational process.

Mirambika School For New Age (MSFNA): On June 1 and 2, Shivakumar and Shanker witnessed the processes of education followed at various levels and in each classroom, and also interacted with the teachers and students. Shivakumar addressed all the students through the morning assembly, emphasizing the role of Nature in our lives and the need to commune with Nature through love. Later, he met the team of teachers who were preparing study materials to be included in Integral education practices, including deeper values as a part of the curriculum itself. On the second day, he again interacted with all the teachers of the school and spoke to them about understanding and facilitating the Integral Education, first with themselves and then in the school environment. Shanker interacted with the teachers of Pre-primary & Nursery level and shared some insights of Integral Education. He also conducted classes on creativity for children of 3 to 8 years of the school.
