Date: Jul 26–28, 2013
Location: Society House, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry
India Council for Integral Education (ICIE), a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, hosted the Collaborative Assessment Process (CAP) workshop in Puducherry from July 26 to 28, 2013.
It was conducted by ICIE in collaboration with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Hewlett-Packard, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Collaborative Assessment Process (CAP) was designed as an innovative, creative process of monitoring and evaluation of education projects, peer-to-peer based at the Project Director level. The workshop also aimed at creating a state-of-the-art process of self-understanding and a shared understanding of the Education Innovation Fund for India (EIFI) projects that are based all over the country.
The EIFI works for transformative change in India. Its purpose is to identify and collaborate on significant innovative ideas and projects in education that can be developed and scaled to the next level of operation, with the sponsorship of EIFI grants (more details)
The CAP workshop facilitated the EIFI Project Directors to design self-monitoring and evaluation process and tools and to share them at an international level. The workshop had the following outcomes:
- Increased accuracy in evidence
- Created a community of practice for ‘horizontal’ peer-to-peer learning within and between projects
- Contributed to sustained program improvement beyond the life of the grant
The workshop was ably led from the front by Dr Stephen Vincent Lancrin, senior researcher from OECD, and Dr Clare Strawn, senior researcher from ISTE.
Dr Stephen Vincent-Lancrin is in charge of the ‘Inclusive Innovation in Education’ section of the OECD’s global report Innovation Policy, which is being prepared for global policymakers as well as educational leaders in India.
Dr Clare Strawn is widely published in the areas of assessment, monitoring, evaluation and knowledge creation, as well as a global workshop leader in all aspects of the use of research to create and use knowledge to enhance organizational development and empowerment.
The workshop was attended by 16 EIFI awardees, including the winner of the ‘One Crore Mega Grant’—IIM Ahmedabad. Some of the other organizations that participated in the workshop were Vinyas, OASIS, Centre for Environmental Education, KC Mahindra Trust, Riverside Foundation, Aga Khan Foundation, Teach for India, and Centre for Sustainable Development.
A detailed report with a more comprehensive description of the events and itinerary of the workshop as it unfolded will follow shortly.
